Prior to becoming a lawyer, I spent many years in very senior levels in the public and private sectors, both domestically and internationally. During that time, I worked as an advisor and consultant providing counsel and guidance to key decision-makers around the world, including ministers of state, elected and senior officials (at all levels), ambassadors and corporate executives on a range of issues from policy development, stakeholder relations, risk management to democratic reform, anti-corruption protocols and international policy, particularly in post-conflict and nascent democracies. I also negotiated and mediated high-profile and intense disputes between political parties both domestic and foreign.
When I advise clients, I bring both a legal mind and my experience in business, politics, and international diplomacy.
After a time working for a well-known insurance defence firm, where I specialized in litigation, I decided to capitalise on my experience and develop my own legal practice focused on areas of the law where I am passionate: business law and strategic corporate advise and general and estate litigation. I also continue to advise governments, institutions and companies on a range of issues related to governance, strategic planning, foreign policy, corporate social responsibility, intelligence, and change management initiatives.
No matter the issue you face, I will be a staunch advocate for you and your needs. As an honest broker, I will also tell you what you need to know even if you don't want to hear it.
I hold an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and a law degree from the University of Ottawa and I am a proud member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Advocate's Society, and the Toronto Lawyer's Association.
In my personal time, I remain actively involved in charitable, philanthropic and democratic causes, serve on the board of director of several, and actively fundraise for worthy causes.
